9700 Emulsion and Suspension Profiling

Introduction in emulsion profile mapping

Recent developments in oil exploration, as well as the growing demand for better understanding emulsion formation and breakdown, has increased the demand for instrumentation by both scientist and process operator.

Rhosonics, being an expert in both Non-Destructive Testing by ultrasonic techniques, made its inventions and technologies at work in a new and powerful instrument product line, allowing real-time studying of emulsions, virtually mapping concentration levels in both static and dynamic separation processes.

Crude oil/water emulsion profiling

While existing subsea oil fields suffer from a growing amount of water cut, also new fields tend to produce vast amounts of water, many times in the form of emulsion. The Rhosonics systems help the oil exploration by providing answers to the question how well additives are able to break down the emulsion in water free oil and clean brine.

Available systems

  • Model 9710 – Static emulsion scanning

The system 9710 provides emulsion scanning and mapping capabilities in a static environment. This tool is excellent for studying the break-down process of emulsions in a controlled environment, for testing stabilizers in food and dairy products, and for testing the efficiency of additives to speed up the breakdown of crude oil emulsions.

  • Model 9720 – Dynamic emulsion scanning

For studying and modelling real life emulsion separation. Particularly useful to measure the emulsion layer thickness while the crude-oil process moves on.
