Biogas and gas mixtures

Also for gas analysis the model 8500 is often the best analytical choice. Our sales team has extended knowledge about online gas analytical measurements and can inform you why, is some cases, the ultrasonic analysers of Rhosonics is or is not the best choice, in comparison with NDIR, NIR, GC, thermal conductivity analysers or any technology...

Althought many gas analyser applications exists, we have focussed on a very few applications, like biogas/ fermentation processes, for mixing gases for food industry (packaging) and for hydrogen cooled generators (alternatively measured with thermal conductivity analysers).

Principal of the measurement
Gases have a sound velocity that is depending of the molair mass and the temperature.

As long the pressure does not change to much (gases do not behave ideal), the measurement is independent of pressure.
This makes the analyser extremely interesting for insitu, maintenance free measurement of hydrocarbons.

If the pressure does change to much, the an external presuure transmitter should be connected to the extra input of the analyser, to compensate.

Following from the equation, the molacular weight, and thus the desired gas concentration, is continuously calculated. This is especially very sensitive for hydrocarbons and much less sensitive for gases that have bounded by oxygen, like CO, CO2, H2O, SOx.
In case of gas mixtures of more then two, in concentration changing gases, the application must always be checked. We might need a second analyser.

The sensors for gas measurement are made from AISI 316L or PFA. The pathlength is, depending on the application between 7 and 50 cm.
We offer explosion proof sensors and controllers.
